I made an archetypal form of a lampshade as I wanted to highlight the basketweaving as an important old craft-tradition. I wanted to modernize the expression by coloring parts of it in a koboltblue.
THE PROCESS
During a workshop with Alice Kettle I liked to combine form and braiding in a repetitive rhythm. I found a meditative state and reflected over the importance of using our hands to keep flow in our minds. The handcraft still provides important jobs around the world and I believe the handcraft gives the product added value.
